Authorities in California are looking for a woman they believe was kidnapped in an incident caught in a harrowing video.
Police say the incident unfolded on Tuesday, March 4, when a man hit a woman with his vehicle as she was walking down 98th Ave in Oakland.
In a video shared by Oakland police, the man is seen pulling over and getting out of his car as the woman stands near the entrance of a residence.
He is seen — at first, calmly — walking around the car, towards the residence. The video then turns blurry for a few seconds.
Oakland police alleged in their statement that the man then “punched the victim multiple times, causing severe injuries.”
The man then “forcefully grabbed” her, per the statement; the video shows him grabbing her with both of his hands as she tries to resist. He then shoves her a few feet towards the car before he forces her inside.
Throughout the ordeal, the woman reportedly screamed she was being kidnapped, per Oakland police.
The suspect then got into the car and drove to an unknown location.
The car — which investigators determined had been stolen — was later recovered in East Oakland.
